Description: The Estancia Llama Pack is a natural area representative of mountain ecosystems and the communities of the Urubamba Mountain Range that serves as a training center for the llama farmers. This visit is an educational and cultural experience in which the visitor will become familiar with the Llama Pack Project, meet members of the Guild of Llama Farmers of the Urubamba Mountain Range and walk with llamas through a trail with beautiful panoramic views of the Pumahuanca valley and the Sacred Valley of the Incas, learning about the benefits of using llamas as pack animals and their importance for the conservation of mountain ecosystems.
Duration: 4 – 5 hours. Difficulty: Easy / Moderate. Start time: 8:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. End time: 12:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. Trekking distance: 2.2 k.m. (1.4 miles) Maximum Altitude: 3,460 – 3,520 meters (11,350 – 10,530 feet) Starting point: Llama Pack Base Camp, Pumahuanca Valley, Urubamba.
Included: Rural truck ride through high-Andean forest ecosystem. Reception area with toilets. Snack: Fruit, energy bar and refill water (passenger must bring bottle).
